AGS Transfer Credits
If you have completed college coursework after high school, Bethel University is here to help you make the most of your previous academic experience.
As a transfer-friendly university, we work with adult and graduate students to apply eligible prior coursework toward degree completion — helping you save time and move forward with confidence.
We also offer Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), which may award credit for documented professional, military and life experiences that demonstrate college-level learning.
Transfer-Friendly by Design
Bethel University welcomes transfer students and offers generous opportunities to apply previous credits toward your degree within our adult undergraduate programs, where many students transfer a significant number of credits.
How Your Credits Are Evaluated
Once your official transcripts are received, the registrar’s team carefully reviews your previous coursework to determine how it applies to your program.
During this process, we:
- Evaluate coursework from accredited institutions
- Match completed courses to general education, major, or elective requirements
- Convert credits as needed (semester/quarter systems)
- Provide a clear summary of how your credits apply toward your degree

Undergraduate Transfer Credit
Eligible credits may be applied toward:

- major coursework
- elective credits

Credit Toward Degree Completion
To earn a bachelor’s degree from Bethel University, a portion of coursework — including major requirements and final credits — must be completed through Bethel.
English / Composition Credit
Previous English composition coursework may transfer into Bethel’s written communication requirements when equivalent outcomes are met.
Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
Your experience matters. Bethel offers Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) as a way to earn credit for college-level learning gained outside the classroom. This may include:
- Professional work experience
- Military training and service
- Certifications and industry training
- Leadership or ministry experience
