English Education Major
Major
The English education degree is a great choice for the person who loves writing and literature and desires to impact young people through teaching English at the middle or high school level. Students pursuing this major take the same courses and meet the same objectives as English & writing majors, plus they complete additional professional education courses that lead to an Indiana teacher licensure, including eight credit hours of student teaching.
Graduates teach in public and private schools all over the United States and around the world and are recognized locally and nationally for their excellence as teachers and leaders.

Student Teaching:
All students nearing completion of the secondary English education program participate in Student Teaching during their senior year. Our program also offers many opportunities for tutoring and for practicum experiences in local classrooms.

Graduates from the popular English education degree program are teaching in classrooms locally and around the world. In fact, in the past five years, every English education major has landed a teaching job. Students take the same classes as English and writing majors, plus education courses that lead to Indiana licensure. All of our recent majors passed the Indiana Core Assessments for educator licensure.
