Lydia (Klassen) Mogga ’15 studied psychology at Bethel with the goal of developing a career in counseling. Currently, she serves with Africa Inland Mission (AIM) as a counselor at the Tumaini Counseling Center in Nairobi, Kenya, helping provide mental health support to missionaries.
Her Bethel education prepared her well to pursue a master’s degree in mental health counseling. From there, she practiced at a clinic for several years, studying to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). This advanced education allowed Mogga to connect counseling with missions, another of her passions.
Today, she is living out both of her passions by serving with AIM, an organization she first learned of while she was a student at Bethel. AIM serves to see Christ-centered churches among all African people groups.
“I remember a speaker at a Bethel chapel service saying, ‘Before you are called to some place or something, you are called to Someone [God].’ This idea has stuck with me as I pursue missions work,” she says.
