Anthony Houston II ’16, an exercise science graduate, currently serves as an Emergency Department Physician Assistant (PA) at Elite Emergency Physicians (headquartered in Elkhart, Ind.). There, he finds opportunities to show the love of Christ to his patients and coworkers every day. He previously worked as a scribe and phlebotomist at Elkhart General Hospital before enrolling in West Liberty University’s Physician Assistant program and becoming a Certified Physician Assistant.

The first in his family to pursue post-secondary education, Houston grew and was stretched spiritually and academically during his time at Bethel. Houston formed strong spiritual bonds with former Bethel professor Courtney Richards and Assistant Professor of Communication Theo Williams and says that God placed them in his life to imitate as they imitate Christ.

Houston’s desire to practice medicine was fostered through the mentoring he received from Assistant Professor of Physical Education Larry McClements. Through the influence of this mentor, Houston chose his career as a PA.

“Larry [McClements] … connected me with an alumnus who is a PA and sparked my desire to practice medicine. I am ever grateful because I love the career path I am on and I know I would have been fully ignorant about the role of a PA if it was not for Larry’s impact.”
