Bethel University is pleased to announce the hiring of Head Coach Weston Kundo to lead the Bethel Cross Country Program. The six-time NAIA All-American arrives at Bethel after a historic season as the Assistant Coach for Indiana Wesleyan.

Director of Athletics Jason Lewkowicz shared, “I am thrilled to have Wes join Bethel Athletics as the leader of our Cross Country Team. … He knows what it means to lead with Jesus as the main thing, and his energy, vision for the future and alignment with our mission will be instrumental as we pursue a distance program that is Christ-centered, culture-driven and competitively excellent.”

Last fall, Kundo helped the Wildcats to their first NAIA Men’s Cross Country National Title and also had the opportunity to coach the 2026 Women’s Indoor 4×8 National Championship Team and the 2026 Men’s Outdoor 5k National Champion.

Kundo shared, “I would like to thank the athletic department and Director of Athletics Jason Lewkowicz for the opportunity to coach at Bethel. Bethel Cross Country has faithfully been pursuing Christ through the vehicle of running and I’m beyond grateful to become a part of it.” He continued, “I’m looking forward to working alongside the athletic department and team as we chase excellence and worship Christ through the gifts he has given us.”

Throughout his athletic career at Indiana Wesleyan (2019-2024), Kundo earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from IWU.

Weston will also serve as an Assistant Coach for the Bethel University Track and Field Program, who recently concluded their season with seven athletes competing in the 2026 NAIA National Outdoor Championships.
