Track & Field Leadership Transition Announced

by | Jul 14, 2026

Bethel University Athletics has announced a leadership transition within its nationally recognized Track & Field program as Director of Track & Field Danny Wilkerson steps back from leading the program while remaining on staff as an assistant coach. Associate Head Coach Andre Moodie has been named Head Track & Field Coach, while Assistant Coach Josh Petro has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.

Wilkerson will also continue serving as Director of the Lehman Center and coaching a group of professional athletes, including Zach Bradford, the 2026 U.S. Indoor Champion in the pole vault and the current No. 9-ranked pole vaulter in the world.

“The track & field program has been a standard bearer for the Bethel athletic department for many years and Danny Wilkerson has been a catalyst for that during his tenure at Bethel,” said Jason Lewkowicz, Director of Athletics. “We are grateful for his dedication and passion for Bethel and our student-athletes. I am excited that he will remain on the staff, continuing to use his gifts to bless and serve the staff and student-athletes while also representing Bethel on the world stage through his professional pursuits.”

Moodie joined the Bethel coaching staff as Associate Head Coach and now assumes leadership of one of the NAIA’s premier track & field programs.

“I have full confidence that Coach Moodie will thrive in his new role and, along with Coach Petro, lead our track & field program in a manner that distinguishes us — being Christ-centered, culture-driven and competitively excellent,” Lewkowicz added. “Go Pilots!”

Petro, who has served as an assistant coach, will now take on the role of Associate Head Coach, continuing to support the program’s competitive excellence and student-athlete development.

The transition also brings Head Cross Country Coach Wes Kundo into the Track & Field coaching staff as an assistant coach, further strengthening collaboration between Bethel’s cross country and track & field programs.
