Bethel University is set to launch a new master’s degree in reading science this fall. This 30-credit-hour program is designed for teachers looking to transform lives through literacy. It can be completed in two years through a flexible, online asynchronous format designed for working teachers.
Over the last five years, a powerful national movement has emerged around the “Science of Reading,” driven by legislative changes, literacy reform and dyslexia awareness initiatives.
“Teaching literacy is a vital act of service that opens doors to learning, opportunity and human dignity,” says Dr. Michelle Fish, Director, Center for Literacy and Associate Professor of Education. “Our program emphasizes ethical leadership, service to underserved populations and faith-informed practice in literacy education.”
This program is designed to equip educators with advanced knowledge and skills in evidence-based reading instruction. Students will gain the knowledge and professional credentials needed to address the reading achievement gap, support diverse learners, and implement scientifically validated instructional strategies.
